Sounding the Call for Philanthropy

Abstract
Phenomena such as the intergenerational wealth transfer beginning to take place- estimates now predict $12 to $15 trillion in the next 20 years- and the growth of personal wealth generated by the economy of the past decade bring into clear relief the opportunity and, we argue, the need to promote philanthropy as actively as possible. With more than five million millionaires and 350,000 deca-millionaires in the U.S., and with a concentration of wealth greater than at any time in our national history, if ever there were a time to capture, nurture and direct a significant portion of this wealth into philanthropic channels, that time is now.
