TPI Board Member Receives SIF Grant

Carla Javits, CEO of REDF and Board Member at TPI was the recent recipient of a $3 million grant by the Corporation for National and Community Service under the Social Innovation Fund (SIF).  REDF is one of 11 national recipients, and the only California-based grantee, to receive a grant from the First Annual SIF Grant.  The $3 million grant, which will be given out over a period of two years, will help REDF achieve its mission to transform the lives of Californians overcoming homelessness, addiction and incarceration through the creation of jobs and economic opportunity.

?We are honored to receive this grant, a signal of public support that will build momentum and strengthen our current initiatives, while allowing us to embark on a statewide expansion of our programs,? said Javits.

The Social Innovation Fund is an initiative enacted under the Edward M. Kennedy Serve America Act aimed to address urgent national challenges and expand effective solutions through public-private funding in the areas of economic opportunity, healthy futures, and youth development and school support.  The Corporation for National and Community Service, through which the grant will be issued, is a federal agency that engages more than five million Americans in service through a variety of programs, including AmeriCorps, and leads President Obama?s national call to service initiative, United We Serve
