Annie E. Casey Foundation Place-Based Philanthropy Initiative
 The Annie E. Casey Foundation is one of the largest foundations in the US and pursues highly strategic approaches to achieve its mission of improving outcomes for disadvantaged children and families. Even with these advantages, the Foundation recognized that it cannot achieve its goals without collaborating and partnering with other foundations both locally and nationally. The Place-Based Philanthropy Initiative was developed to engage the sector in ongoing learning around the characteristics of effective philanthropic practice and to increase the number of funders and philanthropic resources aimed at improving the life changes of vulnerable children. The foundation asked TPI to help it better understand how to work effectively with new and emerging philanthropists and to develop a variety of opportunities to engage and learn together.
