Small Grants Can Lead to Big Change

The Elizabeth and Barets O. Benjamin Foundation will soon award the third year of its initial three-year grants to several organizations in New Jersey, through its Women of Independence, Strength and Education (WISE) Initiative.  One of these grants was given to the Alice Paul Institute, to support leadership programs for adolescent girls.

The Alice Paul Institute is a non-profit, membership-based organization dedicated to educating the public about the life and work of Quaker and women’s rights activist, Alice Stokes Paul. Since 1993, the Alice Paul Leadership Program has been providing leadership development programs aimed at giving leadership skills to girls through the lens of women’s history. The Alice Paul Institute used the Elizabeth and Barets O. Benjamin Foundation grant to help underwrite a report on the needs of adolescent girls, called Girls Share Their Voice.
