Advising

Both international giving and giving within other countries is on the rise and the demand for expert advice and assistance has never been greater.   Individuals, family foundations and corporations retain TPI to help create and execute effective global philanthropy strategies.  Our deep knowledge and global network bring simplicity and security to the complex challenges associated with effective international giving. TPI works with private and corporate clients both in the U.S. and abroad to develop philanthropic programs to achieve maximum impact and ensure donor satisfaction.

Examples of TPI’s advising includes:

Women’s Education and Empowerment - TPI is working with a leading global brand to establish a new corporate foundation with a mission to advance the wellbeing of women, their families, and the communities in which they live. The comprehensive scope of work includes development of foundation structure, governance, mission, strategy, partnerships, employee engagement and impact evaluation.

An International Humanitarian Award - Since 2003, The Opus Prize Foundation has annually recognized and awarded a $1 million prize to an organization anywhere in the world that is doing exemplary faith-based humanitarian work. TPI assists the foundation in all of the elements associated with the establishment and implementation of this award.

Aiding Vulnerable Children - This initiative of the Gerald and Henrietta Rauenhorst Foundation supports community-based services and systems to keep orphans and vulnerable children in families or family-like settings. TPI conducted proposal evaluation, due diligence and site visits in Azerbaijan, Ukraine, Guatemala, Nepal and Vietnam.

Strategic Philanthropy in Hong Kong and the People’s Republic of China - Over a period of several years, TPI helped a Hong Kong-based business family through a strategic planning process to sharpen the focus of its foundation’s giving, extend it from Hong Kong into the People’s Republic of China, and refine the foundation’s structure.

Creating a Global Foundation - TPI worked with the Geneva-based Oak Foundation on a strategic planning process to develop its mission, identify its directions, and structure its governance and grantmaking program. TPI also served as Oak’s U.S. office for a period of time, and helped recruit senior program staff for its permanent office.

International Human Rights - The Reebok Foundation has had a long-term interest in international human rights issues, including its distinguished Human Rights Awards Program that recognizes activists under the age of 30. TPI worked closely with Reebok on various aspects of these programs.

Global Health - In recognition of its 25th anniversary, the Boston Scientific Corporation dedicated $1 million, through the Boston Scientific Foundation, to address the health needs of disadvantaged and disenfranchised populations throughout the world. TPI researched and evaluated various opportunities for the award.

Medical Education in Israel - TPI worked with the Joyce and Irving Goldman Foundation of New York to structure the foundation’s work in Israel, including the creation of an International Scientific Advisory Committee.

Cross-border Corporate Giving - A hedge fund with offices in London and New York retained TPI and New Philanthropy Capital (London) to help shape its giving.  For several years TPI, in its capacity as a public charity, has been serving as an advisor and a conduit for the fund’s cross-border giving from the U.S. to European NGOs.
