Start Date: December 10, 2007

This December, in what TPI believes will be a model for other communities, a St. Louis coalition will be using the themes of The World We Want to envision the world they want. Led by the Business Journal and Gateway Center for Giving, the coalition will drive a yearlong initiative to involve grantmakers, nonprofits, community leaders, and concerned individuals in an extensive community-planning process.

While St. Louis is recognized as an economically successful and stable community, the partners believe that more strategic philanthropic investment will bring new vitality to the area.  They wish to follow the example of other thriving metropolitan regions that boast strong collaboration between the public, private, and philanthropic sectors. The St. Louis initiative will consist of two kickoff events, followed by an alignment of existing programs and services.  These services will support collaborative action through information sharing, group learning, and consensus-based priority setting.

The kickoff events for this initiative will be held December 10th and 11th with a series of presentations and workshops facilitated by Peter Karoff, Joanne Duhl, and Steve Johnson of TPI.
