TPI hosts Irish delegation working to grow philanthropy in Ireland
On May 15th, TPI hosted a delegation of Irish visitors exploring key issues facing the philanthropic community in Ireland and abroad in the 21st Century.
The delegation consisted of fourteen senior administrators and policymakers from philanthropic foundations, relevant government agencies, and grant making bodies in Ireland and Northern Ireland. The intent of the program was to highlight examples of innovation, thoughtful leadership, and administrative best practice in the world of philanthropy – with an emphasis on exploring lessons learned from the evolution of American philanthropy over the past several decades.
“The visit to TPI was, from my perspective, one of the highlights of our trip to the US. I think we (Ireland) are where you were at in the USA maybe 25 years ago, but we have a great roadmap to follow and adapt for the local market here.” said Niall O’Sullivan, Head of Fund Development at The Community Foundation for Ireland.
The visit was coordinated by the Irish Institute at Boston College. Funded by the U.S. Department of State, the Institute’s mission is to support the Irish peace process through the provision of educational seminars and professional development programs for Irish public officials, community leaders, and educators. www.bc.edu/centers/irish/institute
