New England International Donors (NEID) Invites you to a Panel and Roundtable Discussion:

"Education for International Development"

Co-hosted by The Heller School for Social Policy and Management at Brandeis University and New England International Donors

Increasing access to quality education is considered one of the most effective international development strategies, and it is one of the most popular areas for donors and grantmakers to fund. Yet questions remain about how impact can best be achieved. Join a distinguished group of panelists to discuss the issues. 

Moderated by Dr. Laurence Simon, Professor and Director of Programs in Sustainable International Development and Associate Dean at the Heller School for Social Policy and Management at Brandeis University, which offers a Masters Degree in Sustainable International Development. 

Panelists will be:

Jennifer Boyle, former Executive Director, Maranyundo Initiative - a Boston based educational NGO that focuses on improving educational quality in Rwanda. The Maranyundo Initiative has built the Maranyundo School for Girls' in Nyamata, Rwanda and also works with the Rwandan Ministry of Education in creating teacher training programs.

James MacNeil, Vice President, World Education, Inc. - a Boston-based NGO that partners with local NGOs and governments in 20 countries in Asia and Africa (and the US) to improve the lives of the poor through education, and economic and social development programs. World Education has extensive experience designing and improving educational programs, ranging from non-formal literacy classes to vocational training to formal school systems.

Heather Simpson, Acting Associate Vice President for Education and Child Development, Save the Children - partners with governments, NGOs and communities to reduce obstacles to attending school and makes the content of education relevant to children's lives.  

Cost:  $20 ($10 for students)

Light meal, beer and wine will be served.  

Who may attend? This event is open to staff and trustees of private foundations and philanthropic support organizations, as well as to individual donors with a significant commitment to or interest in global giving.
