Johnson Presents on State of Global Philanthropy; Como, Italy

On Friday, November 19th, Paula Johnson, Vice President at TPI and Director of the Center for Global Philanthropy will present in Como, Italy at WINGSForum 2010, Innovation and Impact: The Role of Grantmaker Associations in Changing Society.
Johnson’s session will present the results of a recent study exploring the status of global institutional philanthropy in six different regions of the world: the Arab Region, Asia & Pacific, Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean, North America, and Sub-Saharan Africa. The study, authored by The Philanthropic Initiative for WINGS, surveyed 23 countries and the Arab region to explore the characteristics and operations of philanthropic institutions around the globe. In doing so, it examined: 1) the environment in which philanthropy operations, 2) institutional forms and operation models, 3) philanthropic assets, 4) institutional expenditures, and 5) information resources.
WINGSForum, which runs from November 18-20, is a global meeting that convenes every four years to bring together grant maker associations and support organizations to open a dialogue, increase knowledge, and build connections in the field of global philanthropy. This year’s forum will focus on 1) Improving the legal and enabling environment for global philanthropy, 2) Developing models for more effective philanthropic collaborations to address global challenges, and 3) Engaging philanthropy more strategically with policymakers and multilateral organizations.
