Hasbro recognized in DC for support of GenerationOn
Date Published: March 25, 2011
On Friday, March 21st TPI client Hasbro, Inc. was recognized for its community relation efforts at the Points of Light Institute Tribute Event at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. The event honored President and Mrs. George H.W. Bush for their initial and continued support for civic engagement throughout the United States.
The Points of Light Foundation was founded in 1990 as an independent, non-partisan, nonprofit organization to encourage and empower the spirit of service. Inspiration for the organization stemmed from George H.W. Bush’s 1989 inaugural address in which he referred to the community organizations and nonprofits making a difference around the country as a “thousand points of light.” Since its inception, Points of Light has grown to become a network of resources and organizations spurring the growth of national service programs. In 2007 the Foundation merged with HandsOnNetwork to become the Points of Light Institute.
Hasbro was showcased at the event because of their support for GenerationOn, the youth division of Points of Light that has helped bring together the leading youth service organizations and programs throughout the country. Hasbro’s Children’s Fund recently made a multi-year commitment of $5 million to GenerationOn in support of their mission to inspire, equip and mobilize youth to take action that changes the world and themselves through service.
TPI would like to congratulate Hasbro for this recognition and announce that this coming Monday, March 28 from 8:00-9:00pm EST, NBC will broadcast the event in a special entitled “All Together Now – A Celebration of Service.”
