Joanne Duhl, Vice President at TPI, will moderate a panel on Tuesday, April 12th at the 2011 Windows Council on Foundations (COF) Conference.  This annual conference brings together corporations, community foundations, family foundations and independent donors from across the world for three days of learning and networking.  This year’s theme, “Windows,” is a metaphor for encouraging a spirit of transparency, honesty, openness and candor in the field of philanthropy.

Duhl’s panel, “Research into Practice: Role of Foundation in Translating Research into Practice,” will look at the gap that often exists in philanthropy between researchers and practitioners and how foundations can work to bridge this divide.  The session will present possibilities for translating research into organizational practice and ideas that can be applied to address critical social problems.

In addition to Duhl, presenters will include:

  • Kurt Fischer, Professor, Harvard University
  • Donna Frisby-Greenwood, Program Director, John S. & James L. Knight Foundation
  • Ruby Takanishi, President and CEO, Foundation for Child Development
