TPI/Gates lead NSPA Pre-conference on Improving Scholarship Programs

Deborah Denhart, Senior Program Officer at TPI, will present at a pre-conference session at the 2010 National Scholarship Providers Association (NSPA) Annual Conference taking place in Broomfield, CO this week.  The session, which is scheduled for Tuesday, October 26th from 12pm – 4pm, is titled “Reaching New Heights: Retention Practices for Scholarship Programs.”  It will explore the retention practices of a diverse group of scholarship providers such as top national programs, state colleges, community foundations and nonprofit organizations.  The providers to be discussed have all implemented retention efforts, made mistakes, retooled and created successful programs under a variety of budget and resource constraints.

The anticipated take-aways include: a jumpstart on improving retention in your organization, sample scenarios and solutions, and a better understanding of how to plan for, and define, retention in the context of one’s organization.

In addition to Denhart, panelists include:

  • Ron McFall, Associate Director of Scholarships, Indiana University
  • Larry Griffith, Vice President, Gates Millennium Scholar Program/United Negro College Fund (UNCF)
  • Kweli Washington, Founder & Principal, The Cue Group, LLC

The panel will be facilitated by Kimberly Stezala, President, Stezala Consulting
