Defining Donor Intent at SECF Conference
Date Published: November 1, 2010
Amy Zell Ellsworth, Senior Philanthropic Advisor at TPI, will present on donor intent on Thursday, November 11th at the Southeast Council of Foundations' (SECF) 41st Annual Meeting in Mobile, Alabama.
Understanding a donor’s intent and guiding values is at the very heart of philanthropy for both families and community foundations. A process for fully exploring and articulating intent establishes the framework from which consistency can flow - legally, programmatically, and in healthy communication and relationships – all focused on the opportunity to make a difference over many years and/or many generations.
The session, "Between Generations: Defining Donor Intent", will help you understand the benefits of the process for defining intent and identify the elements you would like to consider and include in your own philanthropy. Building on successful examples and drawing on the experience of those who have worked closely with philanthropic families, you will leave with the tools to complete your own letter of intent.
SECF is a membership association of more than 360 grantmakers working together to strengthen, promote and increase philanthropy in 11 southeastern states (AL, AR, FL, GA, KY, LA, MS, NC, SC, TN, VA). The Annual Meeting is an opportunity for foundation staff and trustees in the southeastern region to come together for educational, networking and leadership opportunities. The theme of this year's meeting is Reflect. Revive. ReNEW. For more information, and to register, click here.
