Jim Coutre will join nonprofit leaders, for-profit social entrepreneurs, grant-makers, and social investors from around the world at the Opportunity Collaboration Poverty Alleviation Un-Conference.  What is an un-conference?  Quite simply it brings people together in the same way a conference does, but without all of the dry and lack luster panels, speeches and promises that have become the norm.  As Opportunity Collaboration explains, at the Poverty Alleviation Un-Conference you should not expect:

  • Death by PowerPoint
  • Plenary Lectures
  • Pontificating “Expert” Panels
  • Talkers, Not Doers
  • Business Cards & Briefcases
  • Auditorium Seating
  • Bright Lights or Big City Distractions
  • Hidden Expenses
  • Dysfuncational Rules
  • Suits (swimsuits OK)
  • Institutional Egos or Filibusters
  • Rubber Chicken Dinners

The approach may seem light-hearted, but the discussions, which will take place from October 17-20 in Ixtapa, Mexico, require serious attention.  Delegates engaged in poverty alleviation and economic justice enterprises will gather for a four-day problem-solving, strategic retreat that promises to break down the silos of unproductive competition and go beyond the boundaries of conventional poverty alleviation.

Although the conference is fully booked, you can register for standby status.
