Remmer to moderate at COF on Community Foundation Global Giving
TPI President Ellen Remmer will moderate Tuesday, September 14th at the COF Fall Conference for Community Foundations. The session will focus on preliminary findings from the Community Foundation Global Giving Initiative, a consortium of community foundations exploring the potential benefits of a central resource to assist community foundations with giving to non-U.S. NGOs and with international grantmaking.

Two New Senior Fellows at TPI
TPI is pleased to announce the appointment of Mark Sidel and Peter Lamb as Senior Fellows. Mark Sidel is a widely recognized expert in global philanthropic studies, with deep expertise in the legal and policy environment of global philanthropy and the practice of philanthropy in Asia. Peter Lamb is a leader in the U.S. philanthropic sector, highly respected for his pioneering work with both community and family foundations.

Remmer quoted in Chronicle on Gates/Buffett Giving Pledge
TPI President and CEO, Ellen Remmer, was quoted in an article in The Chronicle of Philanthropy yesterday entitled, "Wealthy Americans Urged to Give Billions to Charitable Causes." The article provides details on the Giving Pledge, a recent call to action from Warren Buffett and Bill and Melinda Gates to the wealthiest individuals and families thorughout the country. The pledge encourages the richest Americans to give half of their earnings to charity.

Music and Arts for Young People Report
TPI recently completed a report on Music and Arts for Young People for a donor interested in bringing arts and music education into public K-12 schools in California. The purpose of the research was to help this donor understand the range of models and approaches, and lessons learned from various efforts throughout the country.

TPI Launches Center for Global Philanthropy
TPI has launched the Center for Global Philanthropy with the aim of increasing the effectiveness of U.S. donors giving outside of the United States and strengthening the practice of strategic philanthropy in other countries. The center will be lead by TPI Vice President, Paula Johnson.

EFC Foundation Week to Take Foundation Work to Wider Audience
From May 31st - June 4th in Brussels, the European Foundation Center (EFC) will host its inaugural Foundation Week. The week will feature a wide variety of activities, speakers and exhibitions showcasing the impact of foundation work.

Center for Social Philanthropy Hosts Workshop on Expanding Impact Through PRIs
On May 24th, the Center for Social Philanthropy, along with the Center for Applied Philanthropy and Nonprofit Finance Fund, will host a day-long workshop at the Tellus Institute in Boston looking at how to increase impact through Program-Related Investments. Workshop facilitators will include, Jim Bildner, Joshua Humphreys, Andrea McGrath and Clara Miller.
