Ellen Remmer will present at the 42nd SECF Annual Meeting: Celebrating Wisdom, Demonstrating Value, Cultivating Hope scheduled November 9-11, 2011 in Amelia Island, FL.  This year’s conference will focus on leadership and will look at what roles philanthropy can play in current local, regional and national issues and decisions.

Remmer’s session, Foundation as Catalyst: Building Local Capacity for Problem Solving, presented with Geales Sands and Susan Remmer Ryzewic will look at two case studies of foundations – the Frances P. Bunnelle Foundation and the Remmer Family Foundation – that have focused on building local capacity for problem solving.  Their different approaches go beyond traditional grantmaking to act as convener and catalyst bringing together community leaders, service providers and other funders to collaboratively identify and address local needs.

Registration is still open.
