On May 1, 2007, Ellen Remmer and Amy Zell Ellsworth were invited to lead a retreat for the Southeastern Council on Foundations regional meeting for family foundations. Representatives from family foundations attended Portraits of Family Foundations Working Together at the Callaway Gardens in Pine Mountain, Georgia. The day’s program consisted of a number of presentations, exercises and conversations about strengthening family and community through family philanthropy. It was a dynamic and participatory exchange exploring how to both bring out the best of family and create significant impact in giving.
